Fulton vs. Scott- The Series

Fulton and Scott High meet for the 10th time tonight in Huntsville. Fulton leads the all-time series 6-3, and leads in the games played at Scott 3-1. The series dates back to 1993 and has featured many high and low points for each school. The 1993 meeting saw Scott hold the Falcons with a goal-line stand as time expired to win 21-14. The next year, the Highlanders rained on Fulton’s homecoming with an impressive 14-0 victory in Knoxville. The most exciting meeting in the series came in 1997 when Fulton drove the length of the field in the final seconds for a late touchdown. The Falcons chose to go for the two-point conversion to win the game, and Tyson Porter’s conversion run kept the Falcon’s playoff hopes alive with the 22-21 victory. A region championship was on the line in 1999 when Scott, led by QB Scott Brummett, upset the Falcons 34-14 at Bob Black Field. Fulton returned the favor in 2001, defeating Scott 76-0, the most points scored by the Falcons in school history. Fulton currently holds a 4 game winning streak in the series.

Fultonfootball.com on the web

Last winter, Fulton High School launched its own website devoted to football. The Fulton Football webpage is located at www.fultonfootball.com. The site is growing everyday and is a great source of information on the Falcons. Surfers can access current team news and updates, along with a large photo gallery. Historical information about the Falcons can be found also. The website is also featuring a brief video clip of highlights from Fulton’s state championship victory over Covington.

Tennessee Titans Honor Buck Coatney

The Tennessee Titans announced Monday that Buck Coatney, head football coach of Fulton High School, has been named as the Titans High School Football Coach of the Week. Last Friday night, the defending 3A state champions knocked off Anderson County 35-7 improving their record to 5-2 on the season.

Through the Titans Foundation, team owner K.S. "Bud" Adams, Jr. will make a $1,000 contribution to the Fulton High School football program in Coach Coatney's honor.

Coach Coatney will also receive a framed certificate signed by NFL Commissioner Paul Tagliabue, NFL Director of Football Operations Gene Washington and Titans Head Coach Jeff Fisher and will be Adams' guest at the Titans game vs. Detroit on January 2, 2005.

"Coach Coatney is a very dedicated and focused coach," Fulton High School Principal Kitty Hatcher said. "He cares for all the students of Fulton High School and we are very proud of him."

The criterion for selection includes the coach's impact on his team, school and community. A statewide media panel votes each week to determine the weekly winner. All high school football coaches in Tennessee, regardless of their school's size, league, or division, are eligible to be selected each week. The program is designed to recognize high school coaches who transform, through their hard work and dedication, student-athletes into the best possible football players and citizens in their community.

Next Week

Fulton travels to Dr. Nat Sugarman Memorial Field next week to take on the Kingston Yellow Jackets. Kingston has been a tough place for the Falcons to play in the past, as Fulton only has one victory all-time at Kingston.

Senior Elliott Bishop leads the Falcon receiving corps with 26 catches.
