Fulton vs Austin-East

The Series

·        This is the 35th meeting between Fulton and Austin-East.

·        A-E leads the all-time series 21-13.

·        A-E leads the series in games played at Bob Black Field 11-5.

·        A-E leads the series in games played at Dusty Lennon Stadium 9-8.

·        Fulton won the 1st ever game played in Dusty Lennon Stadium 35-13 over the Roadrunners on September 14, 1973. This was also Fulton’s 1st win in the series.

·        Fulton and A-E has played every year since 1973.

·        A-E won the 1st ever meeting in 1969 32-20 at Evans-Collins Field.

·        Fulton won the last meeting 12-6 in overtime last year in the 3rd round of the TSSAA playoffs.

·        Fulton’s longest wining streak in the series is 6 games (1973-1978).

·        A-E’s longest winning streak in the series is 7 games (1991-1997).

·        Fulton and East met 8 times from 1951-1961. Fulton leads the series 5-3. East High and Austin High were combined to form Austin-East in the late 1960s.

Fulton in the Polls

 

   Fulton finished the 2003 regular season ranked #3 in the Associated Press football poll. This is the 4th time that the Falcons have made the final statewide poll.

Last Week

 

   Fulton began the 2004 season on a winning note last Friday, as the Falcons defeated Carter 28-13. Quarterback Ish Young was impressive for Fulton, tossing 4 touchdowns in his first start. Young finished the night 13 of 21 for 165 yards in the air. Newcomer Elliott Bishop caught two first quarter touchdowns for the falcons. DeMarcus Matthews’ interception of a Brett Stanton pass set up Fulton’s third score. Matthews caught a 5-yard TD pass from Young with no time remaining in the first half, as the Falcons held a 22-0 lead at halftime. Marques Patton closed the scoring for Fulton with a 4 yard TD pass from Young. Tyrone Cobb led the Falcons with 44 yards rushing.

 

Next Week

 

Fulton hosts the Seymour Eagles next week at Bob Black Field. The Falcons and Eagles have met in both the regular season and in the playoffs for the last five seasons. Kick-off is 7:30 PM.

 

Fulton at Home

 

   Fulton is currently in the midst of an 19 game winning streak at Bob Black Field. This is the longest streak in school history. The Falcons opened their stadium with a 19 game unbeaten streak (17-0-2) from 1965-1968. Fulton’s all-time home record is 111-86-3, and Coach Coatney is 38-29 at home.
